We can produce

..... tamarillos at least -- and plenty more still on the trees.  I wrote here  about our tamarillo trees.  They are doing very well at this time of year.

Not much else in the produce department at the moment.

It's been too hot, too wet, too humid.  Even the egg production has slowed.

However, tamarillos have been so very easy to grow
I must try some of the tempting sounding tamarillo recipes I've seen online.

. Not quite as colourful as the ones in the shops, but taste pretty darn good.

Maybe I should have altered the photos to be more like this one, then they wouldn't look so anaemic!

cheers for now
Wendy

Thanks for all the peahen comments.  Kim I love the idea of giving the peacock a mirror.  Surely the female of the species is more intelligent.... and maybe not so vain!

Yes, females are more intelligent I am sure!!
Tamirillos look amazing. I have never grown them ...we bought some in a supermarket once but they were bitter. What do homegrown ones taste like?

What do you do with you Tamirillos? Do you eat them fresh or cook them?

Kim - I really like the taste, but it is probably towards the bitter side. A bit like a cross between a passionfruit and a guava I think.

Anne - at the moment we're eating them fresh - just scooping out the flesh with a spoon like a passionfruit. I'd like to try cooking them but haven't yet.

Dee - yes they are a fruit - often referred to as 'tree tomato', and that's probably the way they grow not the taste!
