Today I .......

....continued with my healthy eating program.  I've been reading the I Quit Sugar website and trying to go along with a sugar free September.  Whilst I don't necessarily eat a lot of sugar, it is a real wakeup call to see how much sugar is in just about everything.  Well, most processed goods and (gasp) alcohol.  So I am reading labels and trying to follow the Just Eat Real Food (JERF) strategy.
Big breakfast / lunch of rye toast, some cottage cheese, home grown greens (parsley, baby spinach) with home grown tomatoes and eggs.

Prior to this feast, I had acquainted myself with my new best friend (who am I kidding?).  A kettleball purchased recently (Aldi $8).  I have to say I am surprised how much I am enjoying exercising and following some beginner kettleball exercises found online.  I think 4kg is possibly the lightest kettleball ever made but it still gets heavy after 5 minutes or so.  I remind myself that my son weighed over 4kg as a newborn and I certainly did my share of lifts, squats, bicep curls etc. back then - so this should be a piece of cake.
All part of my new found Spring enthusiasm.  I am alternating this with increasing my daily walk just that little bit further each day.  I'm up to about an hour at the moment.  You see, we are off on another holiday soon which will involve a lot of walking.  Not organised walking, but tourist walking and bush walks.  I think I will to be a bit fitter - our holidays certainly seem to involve a lot of eating!  As long as it's healthy right!?

cheers for now
Wendy

Oh you have inspired me. I have a treadmill that is currently doubling as a clothes rack.I need to get back exercising.
I am interested in quitting sugar too. I didn't realise just how much I craved it until I tried to stop. So far the longest i have lasted is 2 hours without sugar. It is usually in the form of home made baked goods but still....not good at all for me.
Well done on your efforts.I am going for 3 hours without sugar tomorrow.

I know - impressive right? I thought it was looking good enough for a photo and yes it was yum too.

Thanks Kim - I hope I can impress myself too by actually sticking to a plan for a while. Usually I start off well but fade pretty quickly. I don't bake very often so I don't have that problem, can see that I would be tempted if I did! Good luck with your efforts! I'm not finding it too difficult, just needs a bit of forethought.

No sugar, don't think I could cope with that not that I have huge amounts. Your exercise plan sound like it is going well and your holiday...intriguing.

All the best with getting fitter and healthier. I need to cut down on coffee as I have a teaspoon of sugar in each cup. There is so much sugar and salt hidden in a lot of foods these days. I need to walk more too as when we go on holidays we walk and walk and I am bushed after the first day so need to prepare for the extra exercise.

Good on you! Both huz and I will be cracking down on bad food and getting back into walking and consuming less grog.
I am so unfit! I had to walk about 500 metres to a laundry the other day and it was slightly uphill on the way back. I was huffing and puffing - proof I am dangerously unfit! As my fridge is empty now after holidaying, its time to only put good food back in it and purge the pantry!
